Guest Post: Romance in Reverse by Samantha Tonge
Today I am very pleased to welcome Samantha Tonge on my blog. She is going to talk about her last book, Mistletoe Mansion. So Samantha, all yours:
Romance
in Reverse by Samantha Tonge
Wannabe celebrity and aspiring cupcake
maker Kimmy is the main character in Mistletoe Mansion, and her love life
really represents romance in reverse. Many of us start off falling in love with
the riskier, more unpredictable men but, as we mature, learn to recognize
different qualities in partners to value, such as loyalty and long-term
commitment.
Of course there has got to be the Phoar!
Factor in any relationship, but flowers, chocolates and exotic spontaneous
dates don’t mean anything, if there isn’t the emotional support. I consider my
husband at his most romantic when we had the kids - his unerring keenness to
change nappies and get up to do the nightfeeds meant an awful lot! And despite
her young age, Kimmy seems to have worked this out. After a turbulent
childhood, she goes out with Adam, a sensible, well-grounded fellow. He checks
her car is safe and looks out for her welfare at every opportunity. Kimmy
appreciates this. He makes her feel secure.
However, Adam becomes keen for Kimmy to
ditch her celebrity lifestyle fantasies and settle down with a mortgage and
pension plan. He wants her to accept a lifelong job in the factory where he
works. This is a step too far, even for Kimmy, so Adam asks her to leave.
Fortunately, Kimmy lands a job housesitting Mistletoe Mansion.
And here she meets surly, unpredictable
Luke who doesn’t hold doors open for her or treat her with kid gloves. He’s a
self-made business man who’s taken financial risks – he’s everything Adam
isn’t. And to her annoyance – not that she’d tell him! - Kimmy finds this arrogant handyman
irresistible!
So who will she choose? Will she settle
down with Adam, and create the secure family life that she never enjoyed as a
child? Or will she listen to dogged Luke who himself has followed his dreams?
It’s a very difficult choice. Both men have good qualities. Both men have
flaws.
Or perhaps
Kimmy will strike out on her own, and follow her lavish lifestyle,
bonkers baking dreams… If you read Mistletoe Mansion, I hope you enjoy her journey
to making some life decisions. There’s a bit of fun along the way, thanks to a
supposed ghost haunting the mansion and a glamorous golfing wife living next
door!
About the book:
Kimmy Jones has three loves: cupcakes, gossip magazines and dreaming of
getting fit just by owning celeb workouts.
When
Kimmy’s Sensible Boyfriend told her he didn’t approve of her longing for the
high life or her dream of starting a cupcake company Kimmy thought she could
compromise – after all, she did return those five-inch Paris Hilton heels! But
asking her to trade in cake-making for a job sorting potatoes is a step too
far.
So, newly
single - and newly homeless – Kimmy needs a dusting of Christmas luck. And, masquerading
as a professional house sitter, her new temporary home is the stunning
Mistletoe Mansion. Soon she’s best buds with glamorous next door golf WAG
Melissa, and orders are pouring in for her fabulous Merry Berry cupcakes! The
only thorn in her side is handsome handyman Luke, a distraction she definitely
doesn’t need. And talking of distractions, something very odd is going on at
night…
Kimmy is finally living the life she’s
always wanted. But will her glimpse into the glittering lifestyle of the rich
and famous be as glamorous as she’s always imagined…?
