What they say: June Jenson, an accomplished Oxford professor, has spent her life trying to get out from under the shadow of her infamous grandfather: a renowned archaeologist accused of stealing a relic during an excavation at Sutton-Hoo.

When a secret alliance recruits June to guard priceless artifacts she realizes that this is her chance to contribute to the history she loves and rid herself of the cloud of suspicion that her family has lived under for so long. But, when the artifact June is commissioned to guard turns out to be the same relic her grandfather was accused of stealing- a relic he has consistently claimed never existed - her carefully laid plans of family redemption are a bit shot.

Now, with the aid of her accused grandfather who suffers from early onset Alzheimer’s, and a chauffeur who’s looking for a scandal to make him famous, June must race to discover the truth of the shield and what really happened at Sutton-Hoo all those years ago.

Review: I've always found the world of Archaeology fascinating, being able to uncover traditions, ways of life and customs from hundreds of years ago just with some artifacts and remains is amazing, so when I read that Emily Harper's new one was all about relics, false accusations and a chase for the truth with a more geeky heroine I couldn't be more excited.

June Jenson is as lovable as all of Emily Harper's heroines. She always creates such lovely down to earth girls with a bit of quirkiness that make them special and June is no exception. She is a history lover and all her life has revolted around this subject and her grand-father, who raised her. Because of his illness he has now more bad days than good ones but June is determined to take care of him and also clean their name after he was accused of stealing a non-existent relic, the shield of Quell. Imagine her surprise when she is recruited by a secret organisation to protect a relic and the Shield is right there, in front of her eyes.

But when the shield disappears again, all fingers point to them. With the help of an impulsive but well intentioned chauffeur and an old colleague of June's grandfather, they start a wild search for the truth. Every time they discover something, the story gets more and more interesting and Emily leaves some clues during the story so you can start fitting all the pieces together. Making you feel part of the chase.

June Jenson and the Shield of Quell is a fun story that will have you hooked from page one, with some very lovable quirky main characters and lots of intrigue, I certainly cannot wait to read more about June. If you enjoy movies like Indiana Jones or National Treasure, this is definitely your read.
