Blurb: Jaxon is the guy she's supposed to avoid...

K. C. Carter has always followed the rules - until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she's stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door.

K.C. is the girl he won't let get away...

Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn't give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life - except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As they grow closer, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother's shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible.

*First of all I would like to thank the publishers for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

Review: Rival, the previous book on the series, was for me a really good new adult book, fast-paced, steamy, flirty with strong characters and lots of conflicts, but I feel like Falling Away didn't live up to my expectations. K.C. was a difficult character to like, especially if you had read the previous books where she doesn't play nice, and even if I could see that the author tried really hard to turn her image around, I just didn't get her. She was hot and cold all the time and her emotions changed too fast and with no warning.

Jaxon, on the other hand, had a lot of potential. He was damaged and he needed to control everything. He always thought before acting and he always got what he wanted, but with K.C. he started lowering his defences and we could see his vulnerability. But then, he disappointed me a bit, sometimes I didn't understand his actions and all the fighting and making up was a bit repetitive.

I have to say tough that I enjoyed the half part of the book but then, I lost the interest in the story. However, I was glad I finished because I did like how it ended, it picked up with a lot of action and a really nice ending. And it was good to know how Madoc and Fallon and Tate and Jared, the couples in the previous books, were doing. If you like this hot and cold relationships with a lot of secrets and characters with a dark past who are ready to start again, give it a try, you might enjoy it more than me.
