Guest Post: Every Girl's First Book Boyfriends + Giveaway by Annie Cosby

Today I am very excited to welcome the lovely Annie Cosby to my blog. Annie is the author of the YA Series Hearts Out of Water and she is going to talk about book boyfriends. I am sure we all had a crush on these boys. Ah! And have a look at the fantastic giveaway we have for you! Annie, all yours!

Every Girl's First Book Boyfriends

Most of you remember your first crush, right? Probably your first kiss, too, and your first boy-girl dance. But do you remember your first book boyfriend? I definitely do! And I'll bet you experienced your first swoons over some of these book boys, too. (And don't forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom of the post for a chance to win a "I read past my bedtime" tote decorated by Alba & 2 of Annie Cosby's YA books!)
First book boyfriend Peter Pevensie
7. The oldest Pevensie in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is also known as "King Peter the Magnificent." What little girl hasn't dreamt of being royalty at some point?
First book boyfriend Edmund Pevensie
6. If you had a thing for bad boys, you may have been into Peter's brother Edmund instead.
First book boyfriend Ponyboy
5. The odds that you found The Outsiders aren't as good if you didn't have an older brother or super rad teachers, but luckily I had both and, to 14-year-old me, Ponyboy was the definition of cool crush. Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold.
  Laurie Little Women
  4. If you read Little Women, you may have been a little confused because you thought Laurie was a girls' name, but you liked him anyway because all the March girls did, too. And of course you were heartbroken by Jo's big decision, completely unaware this feeling you were having is called "shipping."
First Book Boyfriend Harry Potter and Ron Weasley
3. It was one or the other, depending on your personality. Or both, if you were destined for an all-girls' school and had to make do with fictional characters.
First book boyfriends Draco Malfoy
2. Okay, yes, my goody-two-shoes 12-year-old self had a major thing for Malfoy.
I may have memorized all Pansy Parkinson's lines in the hopes that one day I'd be cast in the movies. Do not tell me what that says about my personality!
First book boyfriend GilbertBlythe
  1. Because every girl knows—a boy really loves you when he calls you "carrots." Of course, your firsts would have been affected by where and when you grew up, so tell me in the comments: Who were your first book boyfriends?

  1. Wow, that's so good you have Ponyboy and Gilbert Blithe there. I loved both of those books and films. I read The Outsiders at school too. "Stay Gold", oh the memories. Who was the youngest boy in The Outsiders, the one who got beaten up??? I liked him.
    Great post.

  4. I love Gilbert too but David Balfour is probably my first book boyfriend from Kidnapped and Catriona. Now I need to reread those to see if he's as I remember.

    1. I LOVE rereading my favorite books from younger years to see if my age has changed my perception of them! I recently did that with Anne of Green Gables — Update: Still in love with Gilbert!!

  5. I have fallen in love with Gilbert when I was 13. :)) But... Legolas and Frodo of The Lord of the Rings made him go away from renting inside my heart. I'm torn between two lovers.

  8. Oh gosh, I have no idea. One of the first books I remember reading and loving (and actually remember the main character(s)) is the Harry Potter series, but I don't think I ever had a crush (back then at least ;-) ;-) ) on any of the male leads. Embarrassingly enough, the name that comes to mind is Edward Cullen. When I first read the Twilight book(s), I fell HARD for this... creature? Ha ;-)

  10. I'm glad to see Skandar here!! I can't remember my first book boyfriend but Edmund Pevensie is definitely one of THEM. Gaaaaaaahh! HAHA. Until now I still have a crush on him even. I confuse myself though if it's Skandar who I like or Edmund but, I remind myself that it doesn't matter. LOL!
