Top Ten Books I'll Probably Never Read

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists over there at The Broke and the Bookish. I'd love to share my lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

This week we had to name ten books that we will probably never get around to read. I found this topic very difficult. First I couldn't think of any books I wouldn't want to read, but then, I started browsing goodreads and couldn't narrow it down to only ten. So I decided to name 5 classics and 5 contemporary novels that don't really say anything to me. Here they are:

The Odyssey by Homer - we read some parts in high school and just couldn't get into it. To tell you truth I think I forgot all about it the minute we did the exam.
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas - My mum loves this one and when I was living at home she tried more than once to make me read it too but all we got around to was watch the movie.
Moby Dick by Herman Melville - It looks so long and I already know how it ends so I am quite sure I'll never pick it up.
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes - I have read this one actually. But it was an adapted version for teenagers that was simpler and shorter and that was more than enough.
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - We have it at home and I have it in my Kindle. I have thought more than once, ok, I'm gonna start Little Women now but then, I always find something else to read I am more interested about. Will I ever finally read it?
A Song of Ice and Fice #4 and the rest of the series by George R. R. Martin - I read the first three books of the series in a row and I think I ended up so overwhelmed and traumatized by everything (especially the red wedding) that I doubt that I'll pick the series again. And apparently, the tv show is really good, so maybe I give it a try.
The Maze Runner by James Dashner - I've heard a lot about this but it somehow doesn't appeal to me.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - I think I made the mistake of watching the movie first. I didn't like it at all so I'm a bit reluctant to pick the books now.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - I had more than enough vampires with Twilight, which I didn't really enjoy.
Thorne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas - I've heard a lot of good things about Sarah J. Maas and I am actually really curious about her books but they don't sound like my kind of thing at all.

So here they are, some books I'll probably never get around to read. What do you think? Should I change my mind about any of them?

  1. Ooh interesting post, I like it! I've read quite a few of your choices, but I love the classics - Little Women is a favourite of mine. I'm the same about Vampire Academy/any other vampire books! xx

  2. Thanks Paris! I actually found this topic very interesting but hard to write. I think that someday I'll read most of them, especially Little Women as I always wanted to read it. But for now, I don't see this happening any time soon! :)

  3. I wouldn't read any of the classics, although I have read Little Women and hated it (I had to DNF and I rarely do that!). I also wouldn't read GOT or Vampire Academy. I liked The Hunger Games but if you didn't like the movie you won't like the book. I also liked Throne of Glass, it starts shaky but it gets better. I did like The Maze Runner too.

  4. I've read and really enjoyed a few of the books on your list, The first two books in the Hunger Games series were great the last book was a huge disappointment. I adore the VA series and Throne of Glass.

    1. I've heard that about The Hunger Games quite a lot. I'm sure if I read the first book I'd probably enjoy it but knowing it just go downtown from there... I'm not sure if I'll get around to read it! :)
